This is most unfortunate considering that Mr. Papaya is the the friendliest of all fruits.

I think it’s sick that in our society, a girl who acts “girly” is thought of having no respect for herself, having no intelligence or notion that she can live happily and successfully single. Why is it that just because I like dresses, frills, love poems, and flowers that I’m usually typed “sillier” than girls who voice their beliefs in feminism? People look at those kinds of girls and think “Wow, what an inspiration. They really are strong in their belief systems!” Why is it that my appearance and subtle, quiet demeanor makes people assume I am weak, when in fact I believe I have a heart within me just as fierce, convicted, and strong?  To me, it’s sexism to assume that something “girlish” has no heart or mind.

Another point I’d like to make: just because a woman decides to not have a job and to stay home with her family, does not make her any less a person. I don’t understand why people believe that an empowered woman has to have a job. I believe that an empowered woman has the right to decide whether or not she wants to work as a full-time parent or have a job outside the home. It’s ridiculous that women would look down on housewives when in fact, they work harder than most people. Feminism is about allowing a woman to express herself in any way she thinks is right, not forcing your beliefs on what a woman should be down everyone’s throats.

T-Swifty summarizes my feelings on this post from one girly-girl to another. I personally think it’s insulting to women and frankly sexist, that a woman often has to be masculinized in order to be considered empowered.
